SARAH LUCAS

EARLY WORK
December 2nd - January 6th

One of the leading artists of her generation, Sarah Lucas, is internationally celebrated for her bold and provocative use of materials and imagery. The Bailey is honored to host this exclusive look at some of her early work, while a major retrospective is currently on display at Tate Britain in London.

Other recent surveys of her work here in the United States have included the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the New Museum in New York, and the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco.

Using ordinary objects in unexpected ways, she has consistently challenged how we look at sex, class, and gender over the last four decades. This exhibition presents her practice in all its diversity across sculpture, installation, and photography, narrated in her voice, in the 1990s Young British Art world. Breaking boundaries with humor and daring, Lucas shows us the whole spectrum of what it means to be human.
