Celebrating the Legacy of Jane Davis Doggett

The installation of Jane Davis Doggett's artwork honors her remarkable contributions as a visionary and pioneer in architectural wayfinding. Doggett revolutionized over 40 international airports, introducing innovative color-coding and letter-coding systems at major hubs such as JFK, Boston Logan, Baltimore-Washington, George Bush-Houston, Miami, and Tampa. Her groundbreaking graphic design work has been featured internationally, with notable coverage in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, and Japan.

Doggett's artistic journey extended beyond design, venturing into two- and three-dimensional artworks exhibited in prominent museums nationwide. This exhibit presents a vibrant collection of her IconoChromes™, striking geometric designs that pair vivid colors with profound philosophical messages, sayings, proverbs, and psalms. In addition to her iconic images, the showcase includes 3D installations, environmental pieces, original artist drawings, and biographical materials.

While reflecting on her lifelong passion for art, Doggett once said, Some chosen careers stop, but I think the artist has the gift of imagination and perspective that continues for years. You don’t lose that creative ability. You can get old, but you’re still seeing things afresh.”

Deeply involved in her community’s artistic and civic life, Doggett served as a founding board member of the Arts Council of Martin County and co-founded the Jupiter Island Arts Council with Mrs Ann Geupel in 2014. Her lifetime accomplishments have been widely recognized; she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Arts Council of Martin County and the Art Recognition Award from the Town of Jupiter Island in 2015. She was inducted into the Artists’ Hall of Fame in 2016. Doggett’s contributions have earned her a reputation as an internationally acclaimed artist, a groundbreaking designer, and an environmental graphic visionary.

In honor of her legacy of giving, 100% of the proceeds from this collection will go toward art supplies and workshops for underprivileged youth in our community, nurturing the next generation of artists and dreamers.
